  • stomach problems

I went to the Emergency Room on Monday night because my stomach was bloated for two days and it started hurting real bad Monday night. The doc gave me a shot to stop the pain, in which it did…thankfully. However, from the x-ray, he said it’s obvious my intestines are filled with air bubbles (that’s why it’s bloated).

Today, I went back for a check-up with a Digestive System specialist. He said based on my blood test from a few months ago, some measurement from my liver is pretty high (liver cholestrol/fat volume????). Normal is 36, my number is 65. Not sure how horrible that is, but it sounded bad from the doctor. So now, I have to:

    1. Stop staying up late. 1am to 3am is when the liver needs its rest, so I must get myself to sleep before that time.
    2. No more alcohol intake. Sorry friends, no more heavy drinking from yours truly.
    3. Eat slowly – I tend to eat too fast…making it hard for my stomach to digest.

I have to go back next week for an ultrasound and a stomach check (you know, they put a tube with a camera thing at the end down your throat to your esophagus, and finally to your stomach). Yeah, I heard this process is very uncomfortable. Who has done it? Is it painful? I’m kinda scared.

    Must eat healthy….

  • Are you in Taiwan now? We should hang out when I’m there next month. :)

  • maybe you just need to fart…a lot.

  • can you email me your test results?

a liver function test doesn’t tell you anything about liver fat, at least not a normal test

maybe i can help talk you through some of it

  • @doublewong - I am in Taiwan! Yes, come visit me when you are here. Just contact me on Xanga or Facebook…and I’ll give you my cell phone info, etc.

  • @bjtdevera - Unfortunately, I don’t fart much…mostly when I poo, that’s when I fart.

  • @talksal0t - I’ll have to ask the doc for the test results. This is from a few months ago. So they have it on record at the hospital.

  • aww…poor alice.  I hope you get well soon.  You seriously work and party hard.  Tone it down a notch, you’re not a teenager anymore.

  • hope you get better soon.. i did have to be intubated once, not really like that stomach check, but I did have to have a tube stuck down my throat for my back surgery. Its really only a smidge uncomfortable when they take it out, but they tell you to take a deep breath out and its pretty quick. Will you be conscious when the do the stomach check? At least they don’t have to poke through muscle, because when I had my amniocentesis last month i felt a cramping when they were poking around in my insides. Hope the procedure is pain-free and you get good results!

  • @marielle129 - Yeah, I definitely will be awake during the procedure, but they said it’ll only take 3 minutes. Let’s hope all goes well. Hmmm….amniocentesis??? What is that? Is that for your pregnancy?

  • @agentpolo083 - I don’t party hard anymore!!! I’ve stopped since…January! Hehe. Remember, my new year resolution for 2008 is less drinking and partying. I need to be good to my body.

  • so what were the results from the ultrasound…give us an update. I’m sure you will be fine in no time. =)
